OUR STORY
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Ours is a story that began several generations before. We are recollecting all that has be taught and trying to convey it back to the community
ORIGINS OF WILD SPROUTS
This initiative began with a 300-year-old story of a cycle between entrepreneurship, agriculture, creativity, passion and academics, all then coming back to farming.
My father used to pride himself telling us the story about how our great-great-grandfather left an established life under the patronage of a royal family a merchant and bookkeeper to start a new life in a secluded marshland-wilderness that has now become an expanse of farms and homesteads by the family. It all started with one man and his 7 sons and what can only be called today as superhuman exertions in toiling in the soil and their vision that played a large part in shaping our village as well as the family to what it is today. The changing economic structure in the last two centuries inevitably diminished the capacity of domestic farming in providing for a family. But with even with new vocations in academics and business, farming has remained ardent, if sometimes an expensive passion in our times.
But this is an ongoing story which we wish to share with the world to learn from and navigate the oldest industry in the world, Agriculture. You can draw a circle large or small, and you have a market of agricultural production, distribution and consumption, starting with you and extending to the rest of the world. An economic vicious circle we all take part in but a select few who benefit from or even completely understand.
Our story is the story of millions of people for whom agriculture is either a fairytale, a decorative hobby, or, for the large percentage of the farming population, a tightening noose. In short, what was once the simplest way of sustenance have become too convoluted.
Wildsprouts initiative is our attempt to create a gateway that takes the unique produce, traditional knowledge, technical know-how of small farming clusters such as ours to the larger market, where they can be beneficially exchanged.
UPCOMING
EVENTS
As a community driven project, gatherings and events are a large part of our operation. With the ongoing pandemic, this front has been lacking. But we intend to come back with a new vigor.
